Jack and Gilly

jack-gilly

It’s hard to imagine that after bottle raising 2 babies and living alongside them for 5 years, that anyone could then advertise them for ‘FREE’ on the local farm shop notice board, but that is exactly what happened to Jack and Gilly. After their kids had grown older and lost interest the farmer no longer wanted these 2 lovely Goats, and when we contacted him, concerningly he never even checked what our intentions were for his abandoned family pets.

Thankfully our intentions were to welcome them as family. Jack and Gilly are 2 of the more mild mannered and kind goats although they still have their moments with other herd members. Gilly is the smallest goat to call the Sanctuary home but her personality shines big. She loves her cheeks scratched and will often be the first to greet you at the fence. Jack is more interested in doing his own thing and although he isn’t fearful, human contact doesn’t really bring him the same joy. Jack also sports the biggest Tummy to body ratio of the Goat herd.

Although Goats are not known for their willingness to share, Jack and Gilly will nearly always be found in each other’s company and will happily share a hay pile or shelter. We look forward to many more years spent with this beautiful duo.
