Lunar Princess Ranni

lunar

Ranni had been living at a school and found her way to us after her last remaining sister passed away. Animals living in Schools are all too often neglected, their needs invisible. Used as short term entertainment for children who are not always taught to respect an animal individual’s autonomy in the same way we are a human. They can find their life experiences ranging from unreasonable manhandling to complete neglect. It is common for the care provided to be subpar at best, with no one person truly accountable for even their most basic necessities like food and water. This only becomes intensified during the School holidays, often being left with empty dishes for days on end or worse, much worse!

Thankfully this lovely gal had a kind soul who took concern with her and her sisters predicament. Care taking as best she could and intervening to provide vet care and find them more suitable homes when she was able. Ranni came in strong, determined not to be at the bottom of the pecking order and enjoys bossing a couple of the other girls around although it did take her some time to integrate with the flock. She loves corn, like REALLY loves it and will peck at it fiercely fast to win the corn eating competition as soon as dinner is served! And if we must pick her up she is hesitant to start with, but then she snuggles in and enjoys a cheek scratch. Our little Lunar Princess is now a fully fledged and much loved member of the chicken flock.
