Flock To The Rescue
FLOCK TO THE RESCUE...
Building a New Life for 5 Special Souls
These four Isa Brown hens and their devoted bantam rooster arrived at our gates from a backyard where they were no longer wanted. Replaced by younger hens viewed as more "productive," they were discarded as if they were equipment rather than living beings.
This is the hidden reality for many backyard chickens: they are often seen as disposable once their egg production slows. While they give so much, they are rarely afforded the basic medical care they deserve. Most chickens never see a vet, left to suffer through issues that are treated as "not worth the cost."
Our new family arrived with the physical evidence of this neglect. All five were suffering from scaly leg mites. One hen required an urgent vet trip for reproductive issues—a common struggle for Isa Browns—while another is currently battling a respiratory infection. We are committed to their recovery, but we need your help to give them the safe, healthy environment they need to heal.
The Plan: A Moveable Safe Haven
We need to raise $3,049 to purchase a secure Omlet Walk-In Chicken Run large enough to accommodate the 5 newbies (and possibly more in the future) with plenty of room to live the life they deserve.
-
Beyond the "Disposable" Cycle: This enclosure will allow these five souls to finally exhibit their natural behaviours, to scratch, explore, and live a life that makes them happy, far away from the pressure of "producing."
-
The Bedroom: We are incredibly grateful to Kodhi Sanctuary for donating a large enclosure that will attach to this run as their safe sleeping quarters, saving us thousands.
-
A Future for More Birds: Crucially, this setup is a long-term investment. It provides us with the capacity to rescue even more hens from factory farms or neglectful backyard situations in the future.
-
Portable Infrastructure: Because we are in a temporary location, this Omlet system is vital. It can move with us to our permanent home, ensuring that your donation today continues to protect lives for years to come.
This rescue was unexpected, and we cannot cover these urgent costs alone. Please help us show these five special individuals—and the many who will follow them—that they are valued, loved, and never disposable.
$3049 buys the Chickens a walk in run that is 3.6m x 5.4m. The more we raise, the bigger the enclosure we can purchase, which means we can help even more factory farmed Hens and neglected backyard Chickens!!
Help us to help them by making a donation today and spreading the word, so we can all come together to help our feathered friends
